POONCH, Sep 10: District Police Poonch conducted a major traffic enforcement drive across Poonch, Mendhar and Surankote subdivisions to ensure strict compliance with traffic rules and promote road safety. The drive was carried out under the supervision of senior police officers, with dedicated teams deployed at various locations.
During extensive checking, police inspected vehicles and took action against motorists found violating traffic regulations. More than 130 vehicles were seized or challaned for offences including dangerous and negligent driving, overloading, driving without valid documents, improper parking and other violations under the Motor Vehicles Act.
Police said the drive was aimed not only at penalising offenders but also at preventing road accidents, ensuring disciplined traffic movement and protecting commuters and pedestrians. Drivers were sensitised about following speed limits, wearing seat belts and helmets, carrying valid documents and avoiding dangerous driving practices.
District Police Poonch reiterated that traffic enforcement will continue across the district, particularly against violations that endanger road users. Motorists were urged to follow traffic rules responsibly and make road safety a collective responsibility.
