Kesri convenes meeting in Arnia, calls for collective action against drug menace

ARNIA, Jun 22: Shiv Sena Hindustan organized a major meeting in Arnia, attended by village heads and representatives from several border villages, to discuss the growing threat of drug addiction and its devastating impact on the younger generation.

Addressing the gathering, Shiv Sena Hindustan Jammu and Kashmir President Pt. Rajesh Kesri expressed serious concern over the increasing use of heroin, commonly known as “Chitta,” among the youth. He stated that drug abuse has severely affected the future of young people, particularly in border areas where generations of youth once proudly joined the Army, Police, and paramilitary forces.

Kesri noted that village communities traditionally provided a healthy environment, supported by nutritious food, open spaces, and a disciplined lifestyle. However, the growing drug menace has weakened this social structure and deprived many young people of opportunities to serve the nation. He alleged that the spread of narcotics was facilitated over the years by corrupt elements and vested interests who prioritized personal gain over society’s welfare. Stressing that drug trafficking transcends religious and social boundaries, he said that all sections of society must unite to combat the menace.

The Shiv Sena leader appreciated the anti-drug initiatives launched under the leadership of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and said that the ongoing 100-day Nasha Mukti Abhiyan has shown encouraging results. However, he emphasized that government efforts alone are not sufficient and called upon political parties, social organizations, and community leaders to actively participate in the fight against drugs.”We must rise above political considerations and work collectively to save our youth and secure the future of society,” Kesri said.

During the meeting, all participants took a pledge to intensify awareness campaigns in their respective areas and work tirelessly to protect the younger generation from the dangers of drug addiction.Among those present were Sheraj Chak, Vardaan Suresh Kumar Jagwal, Pradhan Ghara Ram, Arnia Block President Balwant Fauji, Rewa Pradhan Balbir Fauji, Border Pradhan Sanjeev Sharma, Balbir Kumar, Dheeraj Kumar, Vijay Luthra, Raj Kumar, Satpal, Vijay Devi, Jyoti Devi, Geeta Devi, Neeru Devi, Darshana Devi, and several other community representatives.
