JAMMU, Jul 27: Dr Varinder Sharma, Co-Convener, Health Cell, J&K BJP, today termed the statements by Kashmir-centric political parties criticising police action against over ground workers and demolition of houses belonging to known terrorists as unwarranted and misplaced, coming as they do at a time when security forces are engaged in a decisive operation following the martyrdom of a police head constable in Anantnag.
Dr Sharma said that a “blow hot, blow cold” policy simply does not work with terrorists or their sympathisers.
He stated that whatever residual terrorism remains in the Union Territory persists only because a handful of individuals continue to nurture separatist ideologies and provide logistical support to armed militants.
He asserted that an attack of this nature is never possible without local support on the ground, a fact clearly established during last year’s Pahalgam attack as well as in several other terror incidents in the past.
He further remarked that it is only due to the meticulous and consistent handling of anti-terror operations by the security establishment that Jammu and Kashmir enjoys peace today.
He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s no-nonsense approach to security for ensuring that there is neither any stone-pelting nor any shutdown call in the Valley. Schools remain open, businesses continue to function normally, and tourism has flourished, he noted, all of which stand as testimony to the restoration of normalcy.
Dr Sharma appealed to all Kashmir-centric parties to refrain from issuing statements that could be construed as appeasement of separatist elements and instead extend wholehearted support to the Central Government’s consistent and sustained efforts to eliminate the last remaining terror modules from the region.
He said such solidarity from mainstream political parties is essential at this critical juncture to reinforce the message that terrorism will not be tolerated.
He made it unequivocally clear that no individual, group or ideology would be permitted to disturb the hard-earned and prevailing peace in Jammu and Kashmir at any level, and that the security forces would continue their operations with full public backing until the last vestiges of terrorism are eliminated.
