JAMMU, May 30: Karan Bhagat, National Coordinator of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) Scheduled Caste Department and Co-Incharge for Punjab in the party’s SC Department, today convened a meeting of office-bearers from the RS Pura and Suchetgarh constituencies to formulate a comprehensive strategy for reaching out to the people, listening to their grievances, and effectively projecting their concerns before the concerned authorities.
The meeting witnessed detailed discussions on a wide range of public issues affecting residents of the border constituencies. Participants highlighted persistent unscheduled power cuts, deteriorating and dilapidated road infrastructure, poor drainage systems, and inadequate civic amenities that continue to hamper the daily lives of people in the region.
Special attention was given to the challenges faced by the farming community, which remains the backbone of the local economy. The office-bearers expressed concern over deficiencies in irrigation facilities, shortage of fertilizers, and the availability of poor-quality seeds, issues that are adversely impacting agricultural productivity and placing additional burdens on farmers.
Addressing the gathering, Karan Bhagat emphasized that public representatives and party workers must remain closely connected with the people and act as a bridge between citizens and the administration. He stressed the need for a systematic mechanism to identify local problems, document grievances, and pursue their resolution through the appropriate channels.
Among all the concerns discussed, the issue of unemployment emerged as a major point of focus. Bhagat expressed serious concern over the growing lack of employment opportunities for educated youth, describing it as one of the most pressing challenges facing society today. He observed that prolonged unemployment is creating frustration and uncertainty among young people and pushing many towards despair and an uncertain future.
He called for sustained efforts to create employment opportunities, strengthen skill development initiatives, and formulate policies that can harness the potential of the younger generation. “The youth are the greatest asset of our nation. Their energy and talent must be channelized towards productive avenues that contribute to both personal growth and national development,” he said.
Bhagat urged party functionaries to intensify grassroots engagement, regularly interact with residents, and ensure that genuine public concerns are raised effectively before the concerned departments. He reiterated the Congress party’s commitment to standing with the people and advocating for solutions to issues affecting farmers, workers, youth, and marginalized sections of society. The meeting concluded with a resolve to strengthen public outreach and undertake sustained efforts to ensure that the voices of the people of RS Pura and Suchetgarh are heard and addressed at every level.
