JAMMU, May 28: Jyeshtha Adhik Maas Purnima, considered highly auspicious in Sanatan Dharma, will be observed with great devotion on May 30 and May 31 this year. Highlighting the spiritual importance of the occasion, renowned Jyotishacharya and head of Shri Kailakh Jyotish Avim Vedic Sansthan Trust, Mahant Rohit Shastri, said that worship and charity performed on this sacred day bring manifold spiritual benefits and divine blessings.
According to Mahant Rohit Shastri, the Jyeshtha (Adhik) Shukla Paksha Purnima Tithi will commence on Saturday, May 30 at 11:58 AM and conclude on Sunday, May 31 at 2:15 PM. Devotees observing the Ratri Purnima fast may keep the fast on May 30, while those observing the Diva Purnima fast may perform rituals and fasting on May 31 as per Udaya Tithi traditions.
He stated that worship of Lord Satyanarayan, a form of Lord Vishnu, along with recitation or listening of Satyanarayan Katha on this day is considered extremely auspicious. Worship of Lord Ganesha, Goddess Parvati, Lord Shiva and Moon God (Chandrama) also grants spiritual merit and positivity.
Mahant Rohit Shastri further said that devotees should perform holy bathing, charity, and Vishnu worship on Adhik Maas Purnima for attaining everlasting virtue. In view of present circumstances, devotees can also add Gangajal to bathing water at home to gain religious merit.
He advised people to avoid tamasic food, intoxication and negative conduct on this sacred day and instead follow a sattvic lifestyle with self-discipline and celibacy. Such practices, he said, help in attaining mental peace, prosperity and positive energy.
Highlighting the significance of charity, he said that donating water-filled pots, grains, clothes, sweets and gold according to one’s capacity is highly virtuous. During the night, devotees should worship the Moon God with lamps, incense, flowers, jaggery and grains and offer Arghya for blessings and peace.
Mahant Rohit Shastri also shared a special remedy for financial prosperity. He advised devotees to offer 11 cowries before Goddess Lakshmi and apply turmeric tilak on them during Purnima worship. The next morning, the cowries should be tied in a red cloth and kept in a locker or place where money is stored. According to him, this remedy is believed to strengthen financial stability and attract prosperity.
