JU’s Bhaderwah Campus Organises Start-up Workshop; Students Pitch Innovative Business Models

BHADARWAH, Aug 19: To cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset and provide students with real world industry exposure, the School of Management Studies (SOMS) at Bhaderwah Campus, University of Jammu, organised a one day workshop on “Start-up and Entrepreneurship” in collaboration with Mudralaya Fintech Pvt. Ltd. here on Wednesday.

The workshop organised under the leadership of Rector Prof. Rahul Gupta and coordinated by Incharge Head SOMS Dr. Umesh Choudhary served as a platform for budding management graduates to interact directly with industry professionals and venture builders.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Umesh Choudhary emphasised the department’s vision of shaping graduates into self-reliant leaders.

“Our primary commitment is to nurture students not just as job seekers but as job creators, innovators and future entrepreneurs who can contribute meaningfully to the regional and national economy,” Dr. Choudhary said.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Bhaderwah, Vinod Sharma graced the occasion as the chief guest while US based licensed psychologist Dr. Nelu Zia attended as the guest of honour.

A team from Mudralaya Fintech Pvt. Ltd. comprising Chief Executive Officer Kunal Dalotra, Chief Marketing Officer Rupali Thakur and Founder’s Associate Rohit conducted interactive sessions on business planning, risk assessment and sustainable venture development.

A key highlight of the event was a pitch presentation where students from BBA, B.Com and MBA programmes showcased six innovative business ideas. The industry experts evaluated the business models providing actionable feedback on market scalability, execution frameworks and commercial viability.

Faculty members including Dr. Mohammed Avais, Amit, Dr. Umar Sadeeq, Dr. Mehmood Ahmed, Dr. Shabir Hussain, Surbhi Langeh and Asma Jamil facilitated the sessions.

The workshop concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Alyas Ahmed with the department reaffirming its commitment to expanding experiential learning and industry academia collaborations.
