Joura Khurd residents express anger over water crisis; dead lizard found in blocked pipeline

DODA, Jun 27: Anger is mounting among the residents of Joura Khurd over the continued failure of the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) to provide a regular supply of clean drinking water. Despite repeated promises, villagers say they are still deprived of one of life’s most basic necessities.

On Friday, frustration reached a new level when local residents themselves attempted to clear a blocked water pipeline. During the process, they discovered a dead lizard inside the pipeline, triggering outrage and raising serious concerns about the quality and safety of the water infrastructure.

Residents strongly criticized the government and the administration, alleging negligence in the implementation and maintenance of the scheme. They warned that if immediate arrangements for a safe and regular drinking water supply are not made, they will be forced to launch a large-scale public protest in the coming days.

Reacting to the incident, AAP leader Raja Shakeel said, “The Jal Jeevan Mission promised safe drinking water to every household, but the people of Joura Khurd are still waiting. Today’s incident, where a dead lizard was found inside a blocked pipeline, exposes the poor condition of the water supply system. This is not just administrative negligence it is a matter of public health. Empty pipelines, broken promises, and endless suffering have become the reality for the people of Joura Khurd. Those responsible must be held accountable, and immediate steps should be taken to ensure clean and regular drinking water reaches every household.”

Raja Shakeel further stated that access to safe drinking water is a fundamental right and demanded an immediate inquiry into the functioning of the water supply scheme in the area. He urged the administration to take swift corrective measures before the situation escalates further.
