JAMMU, Jul 23: The Jammu State Movement has strongly condemned the martyrdom of cop by terrorists in Kashmir and expressed its deepest condolences to the bereaved family. The Movement paid tribute to the fallen policeman for his sacrifice in the service of the nation.
The Movement stated that Kashmir has witnessed terrorism and bloodshed for decades, resulting in the loss of thousands of innocent civilians, police personnel, and security forces. The latest attack once again highlights the continuing threat of terrorism in the region.
The Jammu State Movement said that the peaceful atmosphere of Jammu must be protected at all costs and that terrorism or violence should never be allowed to spread into the Jammu region. The Movement believes that Jammu and Kashmir have distinct social, administrative, and security challenges, and therefore Jammu deserves separate statehood to ensure better governance, security, and balanced development.
The Movement further stated that terrorism should never become a subject of political considerations and that national security must remain above partisan politics. It urged all political parties to work together in the national interest to eliminate terrorism.
The Jammu State Movement also called for an impartial and independent inquiry into the history and spread of terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, including administrative and political failures over the years. The Movement demanded that if credible evidence establishes that any individual, political party, or organization has aided, abetted, or supported terrorism in any manner, strict legal action must be taken in accordance with the law. It emphasized that no individual or political organization should be above the law in matters concerning national security.
The Movement urged the Government of India to intensify its efforts to dismantle terrorist networks, strengthen the security framework in Jammu, and give serious consideration to the long-standing demand for granting separate statehood to Jammu.
