JAMMU, May 18: The Department of Youth Services and Sports, District Jammu, today commenced Inter-Zonal District Level Competitions in the disciplines of Wrestling, Kabaddi, Yoga, Badminton and Table Tennis for Boys in the Under-14 and Under-17 age categories at MA Stadium and the University of Jammu.
The competitions are being organized under the patronage of Anuradha Gupta and under the guidance of Inderjeet Singh, with overall supervision by Sukhdev Raj Sharma. The event aims to provide a competitive platform for young athletes to showcase their talent and secure selection for upcoming higher-level tournaments.
Around 500 players and students from different zones of District Jammu participated enthusiastically in the competitions. The events were conducted by departmental experts and technical officials including Sushma Kotwal, Rajesh Bandral, Amit Kalsi, Bandana Sharma, Jasdev Singh, Neeru Jabalia, Sanjay Khajuria, Gurdeepika Kour, Shifali, Rekha Ratra, Vikram Dogra and others. Officials informed that the results of Yoga, Badminton and Table Tennis competitions will be announced tomorrow.
In the Under-14 Boys Wrestling competitions, Harsh Sharma from Bhalwal secured first position in the 35 kg category while Mukesh Sugh from RS Pura finished second. In the 38 kg category, Rehan from Gandhi Nagar claimed first place and Mohd Wasim from Dansal secured second place. Naresh from RS Pura won the 51 kg category followed by Jigas Sadotra from Khour in second place.
In the 62 kg category, Goutam from Miran Sahib secured first position while Arman Malik from Gandhi Nagar finished second. Mohit Kumar from Gandhi Nagar won the 68 kg category with Yogesh Sharma from Jammu securing second place. In the 48 kg category, Anil Kumar from Chowki Choura stood first while Nitin Kumar from RS Pura claimed second position.
In the 41 kg category, Manik Sharma from Bhalwal secured first place followed by Asif Khan from Akhnoor. Mohit Ram from RS Pura emerged winner in the 44 kg category while Sohil Ahmed from Bhalwal finished second. In the 57 kg category, Mohd Asif Khan from Bhalwal secured first position.
In the Kabaddi Under-14 Boys matches, Jammu defeated Dansal by 30-25 points, Bhalwal defeated Bishnah by 31-15 points, and Jourian registered victory over Satwari by 35-25 points.
In the Kabaddi Under-17 Boys category, Miran Sahib defeated Akhnoor by 32-29 points, while Khour beat Gandhi Nagar by 36-30 points in a closely contested match.
