JAMMU, Aug 24: The Inter-Zonal District Level Basketball Competition for Under-14 and Under-17 Boys concluded at MA Stadium, Jammu, with around 300 students from various zones of District Jammu participating in the event.
The competition was organised under the patronage of Director General Youth Services and Sports, J&K, Anuradha Gupta, and the guidance of Joint Director Youth Services and Sports Jammu, Inderjeet Singh. The event was held under the overall supervision of DYSSO Jammu, Sukhdev Raj Sharma.
The competitions provided young basketball players an opportunity to showcase their talent, competitive skills and sporting spirit. Speaking on the occasion, DYSSO Jammu appreciated the participants and encouraged them to maintain team spirit, discipline and dedication while pursuing excellence in sports. He also advised the players to compete with true sportsmanship and give their best on the court. Medals and certificates were distributed among the winners and runners-up.
In the Under-14 category, Zone Bhalwal defeated Zone Gandhinagar 12-11 in the first semifinal, while Zone Jammu defeated Zone Satwari 21-8 in the second semifinal. In the final, Zone Jammu emerged victorious over Zone Bhalwal with a score of 28-9.
In the Under-17 category, Zone Jammu defeated Zone Gandhinagar 21-9 in the first semifinal, while Zone Satwari beat Zone Bhalwal 22-5 in the second semifinal. In the final, Zone Satwari defeated Zone Jammu 31-18 to claim the title.
The competitions were conducted by departmental experts, including Rajesh Bandral, Amit Kalsi, Vaneet Pangotra, Manjeet Kour and other officials of the Youth Services and Sports Department.
