POONCH, May 18: The Department of Youth Services and Sports, Poonch, successfully organized the Inter-School District Level Rugby Trial-cum-Selection for boys and girls at Government Middle School Hurmi Dhaki in Zone Surankote under the banner of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.
Around 107 students from different schools and zones of District Poonch participated enthusiastically in the event, displaying remarkable sportsmanship and team spirit. The programme was conducted under the guidance of DYSSO Poonch Mohd Qasim, while the event was coordinated by Activity Incharge Vijay Kumar Sharma.
The trials were supervised by ZPEO Surankote Muzaffar Khawja along with a selection committee comprising PETs and REKs of the department. Headmistress Zaneet Kousar attended the event as Chief Guest and encouraged students to actively participate in sports and adopt healthy lifestyles.
During the programme, participants also took a pledge against drug abuse as part of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. The selected players will represent District Poonch in upcoming higher-level rugby competitions.
