JAMMU, Aug 3: The Inter-School District-Level Kurash Championship concluded on Monday at Santosh Vidya Mandir, Paloura, with enthusiastic participation from young athletes across Jammu district.
The three-day championship featured competitions in various weight categories, with the final day witnessing bouts in the Under-17 and Under-19 boys’ categories. Around 79 players representing different schools of the district participated in the event, showcasing their skill, determination and sportsmanship.
The championship was organised under the supervision of the District Youth Services and Sports Office, Jammu. Winners in both age categories were felicitated by school authorities and sports officials. The selected players will now represent Jammu district in the forthcoming state-level Kurash Championship.
The event was successfully conducted by a team of officials comprising Jatinder Kumar (Convenor), Sunil Abrol, Vishal Langeh, Mohd Ashraf, Nancy Jamwal, Mohd Reyaz, Rajneesh Gupta, Tapasvi Mahajan, Sobat Ali, Dikshant Singh, Gourav Bhagat, Abhishek Soni and Rishav Bhagat.

Boys Under-17: Below 40 kg: Madhav (Shangrilla); Below 45 kg: Tushar Bhagat (Raina Academy); Below 50 kg: Naresh Kumar (GHS Bantalab); Below 55 kg: Avikam Chib (BSF); Below 60 kg: Jatin (Dewan Devi); Below 66 kg: Arnav (KV Bantalab); Below 73 kg: Happy Singh (Project Model School); Above 73 kg: Ragav Dutta (KC International School).
Under-19: Below 45 kg: Rishav Bhagat (SRML); Below 50 kg: Deepak Kalotra (GHHS Paloura); Below 55 kg: Mayank Sharma (BSF); Below 66 kg: Taksham Sharma (Dewan Devi); Below 81 kg: Hayan Khan (Spring Dale School); Above 81 kg: Mohd Owais Khan (SRML).
The championship concluded on a high note, with organisers expressing confidence that the selected athletes would perform well and bring laurels to Jammu district at the state-level competition.
