Since 2015, HDFC Bank’s Parivartan programme has been working with communities across Punjab to address some priority development concerns. These include the management of crop residue during harvest season, creating more local livelihood options to reduce youth out migration, expanding opportunities for women’s economic participation, and supporting farmers as they deal with growing stress on groundwater resources. Each of Parivartan’s initiatives is shaped to complement the ongoing developmental focus of the state and meet needs identified by local communities.
HDFC Bank’s Parivartan programme has built a strong and sustained presence across Punjab, covering 21 of the state’s 23 districts through a mix of ongoing, and completed projects. The Bank has successfully implemented projects in both the Aspirational Districts of Ferozepur and Moga in Punjab.
HDFC Bank Parivartan’s work in Punjab is centered on strengthening rural economies, improving educational infrastructure, enhancing employability, expanding healthcare access, and promoting sustainable natural resource management.
The Bank typically has two types of interventions. The Bank’s flagship Holistic Rural Development Programme focuses on integrated interventions across thematic areas. Additionally, Focused Development Programmes involve specific interventions under one or two key focus areas in a targeted geographical area.
Programmes are being implemented across districts including Amritsar, Barnala, Bathinda, Faridkot, Fazilka, Ferozepur, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Moga, Mohali, Muktsar, Pathankot, Patiala, Sangrur, and Tarn Taran, addressing agricultural challenges and requirements related to education, skills, healthcare, and clean energy.
“At HDFC Bank, we believe CSR is not a one-size-fits-all approach. Through Parivartan, we design and implement need-based interventions that respond to the unique challenges of each region. Our work in Punjab reflects this philosophy, from supporting farmers with sustainable agriculture to strengthening education, skilling, and infrastructure. We remain committed to playing a small part in fostering inclusive growth and creating lasting impact at the grassroots level,” said Ms Nusrat Pathan, Head CSR, HDFC Bank.
