JAMMU. Aug 6: The Literary Club of GGM Science College organized an Intra-College Essay Writing Competition on Thursday at 11:00 AM in the College Conference Hall.
The event was organized under the aegis of the Principal, Dr. Prof. Romesh Kumar Gupta, and under the guidance of Dr. Jatinder Kour, Convener of the Literary Club. The competition was part of a series of scheduled activities dedicated to celebrating Independence Day.
The theme for the competition was “The Role of Freedom Fighters in the Struggle for Independence.” A large number of students from various departments participated enthusiastically, showcasing their historical knowledge and writing skills. The evaluation of the essays was conducted by a panel of judges including Dr. Revika, Department of Chemistry, and Prof. Akanksha Parihar, Department of English.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal Dr. Prof. Romesh Kumar Gupta congratulated the participants and emphasized the importance of remembering the sacrifices of freedom fighters. The Principal reiterated that such events help instill patriotic values and a deep respect for our national heritage in the minds of the younger generation.
Based on the judges’ evaluation, Sneha Sharma (Semester V) secured the first position, while Saksham Dhariwal (Semester V) was awarded the second position. The third position was shared jointly by Shivranjani Bharti (Semester V) and Yeshvardhan Thakur (Semester V) in recognition of their commendable essays on the theme.
The event was coordinated by Literary Club Secretary Rahul Kumar and attended by the Literary Club members—Dr. Yasmeen Mughal, Prof. Sumit, Prof. Pankaj Mansotra, Prof. Rajeev, Prof. Vipin, and Prof. Ram Kishan.
