JAMMU, Aug 12: As part of the week-long Independence Day celebrations, GGM Science College organized a vibrant Rangoli Making Competition on the theme “Tiranga – Pride of the Nation.” The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students who showcased their artistic talent and patriotic spirit through beautifully designed rangolis depicting the Indian National Flag and themes of national unity, sacrifice, and freedom.

Addressing the students, the worthy Principal of the college, Dr. Romesh Kumar Gupta, emphasized that the celebration of Independence Day should go beyond ceremonial observances and inspire students to imbibe the values of patriotism, discipline, and national service. He appreciated the creativity displayed by the participants and encouraged them to contribute meaningfully towards nation-building through positive actions and responsible citizenship.

The colourful displays transformed the college campus into a vibrant celebration of national pride. The participants creatively incorporated the saffron, white, and green colours of the Tiranga along with symbols representing India’s cultural diversity, freedom struggle, and democratic values.

NSS Programme Officers, Dr. Shalini Sharma and Dr. Amit Bali, lauded the enthusiastic participation of the students and highlighted the importance of such activities in nurturing creativity, teamwork, cultural awareness, and a deep sense of respect for the nation. They remarked that the Tiranga is a symbol of India’s unity in diversity and that activities like the Rangoli Competition provide an opportunity for students to express their patriotic sentiments through art.

The event was adjudged by Dr. Asha Sharmhal and Dr. Arti Heer.

The first position was bagged by  Pragya , Shwetambri and Suhani,second position was taken by Manasvi, Isha, Sakshi and Iqbal and third position was given to Palak, Saniya, Sayed Ali , Sumeet and Mehak.

Faculty members, NSS volunteers, and students actively participated in the event, making it a grand success. The competition concluded with a renewed commitment among the participants to uphold the ideals of freedom, unity, and service to the nation as India prepares to celebrate its Independence Day.
