JAMMU, Sep 16: GGM Science College, Jammu, organised an online National Webinar on “Solid Waste Management and E-Waste Management” under the aegis of the Principal, Dr. Romesh Kumar Gupta, as part of the Eco Clubs for Mission LiFE initiative.
More than 150 students of GGM Science College participated in the online webinar. The programme aimed to sensitise students about responsible waste management, environmental sustainability, waste segregation and scientific disposal of solid waste, besides creating awareness about the growing challenges associated with electronic waste.
The webinar focused on the importance of adopting environmentally responsible practices in daily life and highlighted the need for effective management of solid and electronic waste. Students were also provided an opportunity to understand contemporary environmental challenges and their implications for environmental health and sustainable development.
On the occasion, Dr. Brinder Kumar, Convener, Eco-Environment/E-Waste Management Committee, introduced the theme of the webinar and highlighted the importance of developing responsible environmental habits among students. He emphasised that effective waste management requires the active participation of individuals, educational institutions and society as a whole, particularly in view of the rapidly increasing generation of electronic waste.
The programme also encouraged students to understand the importance of proper waste segregation, responsible disposal and sustainable consumption. The discussions were aimed at helping students recognise their role in reducing waste generation and protecting the environment.
The enthusiastic participation of more than 150 students reflected their interest in environmental conservation and sustainable practices. The webinar provided a platform for students to engage with important issues related to waste management and understand how individual actions can contribute to broader environmental goals.
The programme was organised in accordance with the objectives of Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment), which seeks to encourage individuals and communities to adopt sustainable lifestyles and environmentally responsible practices.
Through the initiative, GGM Science College reiterated its commitment to promoting environmental awareness among students and encouraging them to become responsible contributors to sustainable development and environmental conservation.
