GGM Science College celebrates Gandhi Shastri Jayanti

JAMMU, Oct 1: GGM Science College, Jammu, organised a special programme on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti and the birth anniversary of Lal Bahadur Shastri. The programme was organised by the NSS Units, Gandhian Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies, and Literary Club of the College.

The programme highlighted the timeless ideals of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri, particularly their commitment to truth, non-violence, simplicity, integrity, patriotism and service to the nation.

As part of the programme, faculty and students took the Nasha Mukt Bharat Pledge, reaffirming their commitment to staying away from substance abuse and contributing towards building a healthy, responsible and drug-free society.

Along with the pledge, the  NSS volunteers also carried out awareness programme on the importance of health and hygiene for the staff members and their families staying in the staff quarters of GGM Science College .

The programme was organised under the guidance of Principal Dr. Romesh Kumar Gupta. The NSS Programme Officers, Dr. Shalini Sharma and Dr. Amit Bali, along with Dr. Seema Rani Minhas, Convenor, Gandhian Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies, and Dr. Jatinder Kaur, Convenor, Literary Club, encouraged the students to imbibe the values of self-discipline, service, peace and social responsibility in their everyday lives.

The occasion served as a meaningful reminder of Mahatma Gandhi’s message of truth and non-violence and Lal Bahadur Shastri’s inspiring call for “Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan,” motivating students to contribute positively towards the nation and society.
