THANNAMANDI, Sep 15: Government Degree College Thannamandi organised a morning assembly awareness session on “Mental Stress and the Use of Drugs/Substances” under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA).
The programme was organised with the objective of sensitising students about the harmful effects of drug and substance abuse. It was held under the guidance and supervision of College Principal Prof. (Dr.) Shamim Ahmed Azad.
On the occasion, Prof. Yasmine Koser, Department of Urdu, delivered an informative lecture highlighting the relationship between mental stress and substance abuse.
She explained how young people may sometimes turn towards harmful substances while attempting to cope with stress, anxiety, academic pressure, social challenges and personal difficulties.
The lecture focused on the importance of recognising stress at an early stage and addressing it through healthy and constructive approaches. Students were encouraged to maintain a balanced routine, participate in physical activities, pursue creative interests, communicate openly with family members and teachers, and seek appropriate guidance whenever required.
