JAMMU, Oct 27: The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit, in collaboration with the Vigilance Committee of Government Degree College (GDC), RS Pura, has organised a week-long special camp under the theme “My India, Corruption-Free India – An NSS Initiative” from October 26 to November 1, 2026, to promote integrity, honesty, transparency and civic responsibility among students and citizens.
The programme is being conducted under the patronage of Principal Prof. (Dr.) Preetpal Kour, whose guidance and encouragement have motivated students to participate actively in the initiative and uphold the values of honesty, discipline, public service and social responsibility.
As part of the campaign, an Online Integrity Pledge for Citizens was undertaken on October 26, encouraging individuals to reject corrupt practices, uphold ethical values and contribute towards building a transparent and accountable society.
On October 27, the college organised an anti-corruption pledge, an orientation session and a cleanliness drive on the campus. The activities aimed to sensitise students about the harmful effects of corruption, the importance of integrity in public life and the role of responsible citizens in strengthening good governance.
The orientation session highlighted the need to develop ethical values among young people and encouraged students to act responsibly in their personal and professional lives. Participants were also encouraged to recognise their role in promoting transparency, accountability and fairness in society.
The cleanliness drive further emphasised the importance of maintaining a clean and healthy environment while fostering civic sense and collective responsibility. The activity encouraged students to contribute actively towards community welfare and national development through voluntary service.
The programme was organised by Prof. Geetika Goswami, Convener of the Vigilance Committee, and Prof. Lukesha Dubgotra, NSS Programme Officer, with the active participation and coordination of members of the Vigilance and NSS committees.
The special camp reaffirmed the college’s commitment to nurturing socially conscious, responsible and ethically aware citizens. Through such initiatives, GDC RS Pura continues to encourage student participation in social service and promote awareness about the importance of combating corruption.
The week-long campaign, continuing until November 1, aims to strengthen the values of integrity, accountability and public responsibility, contributing towards the broader vision of a clean, transparent and corruption-free India.
