R S PURA, Aug 20: Under the guidance of the Principal, Department of Economics, in collaboration with the Department of Mathematics, organised a workshop on “Financial Literacy” on 20 August 2026 with the objective of creating awareness among students about the importance of sound financial planning, responsible money management and informed financial decision-making.
The workshop focused on developing practical financial skills among students and familiarising them with essential concepts such as budgeting, saving, investment, banking, insurance, digital financial services, financial fraud prevention and responsible use of credit.
The resource person of the event was Prof. Pawan Gupta SEBI Security Market trainer.
He highlighted the growing importance of financial literacy in today’s rapidly changing economic environment. Students were encouraged to develop the habit of saving, understand different investment avenues and make informed decisions based on risk, return and financial goals.
Principal Prof (Dr.) Preetpal Kour addressed the students and highlighted that financial literacy is an important life skill that empowers students to make smart financial decisions, avoid financial problems, and achieve their personal and professional goals. By learning financial management early, students can build a strong foundation for a successful and financially secure future.
The workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members. An interactive session was also conducted, during which students raised questions and discussed various aspects of personal finance and financial planning.
The welcome address was given by Dr Shivani Manchanda. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Jugal Kishore. The workshop was attended Dr. AnupamaPandotra, Prof. Anju Bala, Rakesh Pandita and other faculty members.
