KHOUR, Aug 22: The Institutional Innovation Council (IIC) of Government Degree College Khour, in collaboration with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), organised a seminar on Financial Literacy at the college on 22 August 2026.
The programme was organised with the objective of creating awareness among students about responsible financial decision-making, savings and investment, investor awareness, securities markets, and the importance of protecting oneself from financial frauds and misleading financial information.
The programme was presided over by the Principal of Government Degree College Khour, Prof. Dr. T. K. Sharma.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dr. T. K. Sharma appreciated the efforts of the Institutional Innovation Council in organisingprogrammes that provide students with practical knowledge beyond the conventional classroom. He emphasised the importance of developing financial awareness among young people so that they can make informed and responsible financial decisions in the future.
The keynote resource person for the programme was Prof. Pawan Kumar Gupta, a SEBI-registered SMART (Securities Market Awareness and Training) Trainer.
During his interactive session, Prof. Gupta explained various aspects of financial literacy and the securities market in a simple and practical manner. He emphasised the importance of making informed financial decisions, understanding investment risks, verifying financial information, and exercising caution while dealing with investment-related offers and advice, particularly in the digital and social media environment.
The session provided students with an opportunity to interact directly with the resource person and seek clarification on various aspects of financial management and investment awareness. The interactive nature of the programme generated considerable interest and enthusiastic participation among the students.
The programme was conducted and anchored by Prof. Khalid Sajad Bohra. All faculty and staff members of the college were present on the occasion. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the Principal, the resource person, SEBI, the Institutional Innovation Council, faculty members, staff and students for their valuable contribution to the successful conduct of the programme.
