JAMMU, Jul 24: Office-bearers of the Gardi Sabha Biradari on Thursday felicitated Swarn Singh, the newly appointed Provincial General Secretary of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), at a function held in Jammu.
Speaking on the occasion, Swarn Singh said that the life of Lord Shri Ram continues to inspire society by teaching that a person’s worth is determined not by birth but by one’s virtues, actions and character. He said Shri Ram treated every section of society with equality, demonstrating that true leadership lies in carrying everyone along with respect and compassion.
Referring to Lord Ram’s exile, Swarn Singh said that by voluntarily giving up royal comforts and embracing a simple life in the forests, Shri Ram set an example of sacrifice and responsibility. He noted that the message behind this act was that a ruler must understand the hardships and aspirations of every section of society.
He further highlighted that during his years in exile, Lord Ram established close bonds with forest dwellers, sages and ordinary people, reflecting his commitment to social harmony and inclusiveness.
Swarn Singh said that Lord Ram embracing Nishadraj, accepting the berries offered by Shabari, and honouring the service of Kevat are timeless examples of equality and humanity. These incidents, he said, clearly demonstrate that Shri Ram rejected social discrimination and placed humanity above all divisions.
He added that the ideals of Lord Ram teach that a harmonious society cannot be built solely through laws but through compassion, mutual respect and empathy. “True equality is possible only when we consider the suffering of others as our own,” he said.
The programme concluded with members of the Gardi Sabha Biradari congratulating Swarn Singh on his new responsibility and expressing confidence that he would continue working for social harmony and cultural values.
Among those present on the occasion were Ramlal, President of Gardi Sabha Biradari, Kuldeep Raj Malhotra, Kamal Kishore, and other prominent members of the organisation.
