Ganesh Sharma honored with ‘Vande Mataram Rashtriya Kala Ratna Samman’ at New Delhi

JAMMU / NEW DELHI, Aug 17: Eminent contemporary sculptor Ganesh Kumar Sharma of Jammu and Kashmir has been honoured with the prestigious “Vande Mataram Rashtriya Kala Ratna Samman” by Kala Kunj Foundation, Bhiwadi, Rajasthan, during a national art camp and workshop organised in New Delhi.

The two-day “Vande Mataram National Art Camp and Workshop” was held on August 15 and 16 at B.N. Pandey Hall, Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti, Raj Ghat, to commemorate 150 years of Vande Mataram. Around 42 senior and young artists from different parts of the country participated in the event and showcased a diverse range of creative works.

The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. Sanjeet Kumar, Director, Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti, in the presence of Guest of Honour and eminent artist Roop Chand, Vijay Pal Bhagri, Founder of Colour Canvas, and Kamal Seth of Camlin Colors.

Ganesh Kumar Sharma was invited as a Guest Artist and was the only participating sculptor from Jammu and Kashmir. He received the Vande Mataram Rashtriya Kala Ratna Samman in recognition of his contribution to sculpture and Indian art.

The award ceremony was held on August 16 in the presence of Chief Guest Rajesh Kumar Dedha, educationist, eminent artist and Director, COSMO, Delhi. Eminent artists Laxman Kumar, Hari Singh and Deepak Sharma were also present.

The participating artists displayed their creative works in an exhibition and were felicitated for their contribution to the national art event.

Rajni Sharma, Director, Kala Kunj Foundation, congratulated Ganesh Kumar Sharma and all participating artists and extended her best wishes for their continued creative achievements.

The recognition is being seen as a significant honour for Jammu and Kashmir’s contemporary art community and highlights the contribution of the region’s artists to the wider national cultural landscape.
