DOORU, Jul 28: In a major humanitarian initiative aimed at improving access to quality healthcare in rural areas, a Free Mega Medical Camp was organised at Holygates International School, Hiller Shahabad, by Tehreek-i-Sawtul Awliya Jammu & Kashmir and the Showkat Naseer Institute of Development Kashmir, in collaboration with the Department of AYUSH, Kashmir Eye Clinic, and the J&K AIDS Control Society.

The camp received an overwhelming response, with hundreds of patients from Hiller Shahabad and adjoining villages availing themselves of free medical consultations, diagnostic services, eye examinations, and essential medicines. Specialists from various medical disciplines examined patients, provided expert consultations, and prescribed appropriate treatment. Kashmir Eye Clinic conducted free eye screening tests on the spot, while medicines were distributed free of cost to all eligible patients.

Speaking on the occasion, Irshad Ahmad Beigh, Chairman of Holygates International School, expressed his gratitude to Tehreek-i-Sawtul Awliya for selecting the institution as the venue for this humanitarian initiative. He said the school believes that education extends beyond classrooms and textbooks and includes fostering a healthy, responsible, and empowered society. Guided by this vision, the institution extended its full support to the medical camp. He added that Holygates International School has consistently participated in welfare initiatives and will continue to support programmes that promote public health and social well-being.

A representative of Tehreek-i-Sawtul Awliya said the organisation’s primary mission is to serve humanity, particularly people living in remote and underserved areas where access to quality healthcare remains limited. He noted that the organisation had recently organised a similar free medical camp at Qammar Verinag in collaboration with Paras Hospital Srinagar and reaffirmed its commitment to conducting more outreach programmes to ensure that quality healthcare reaches those who need it most.

Social activists and local residents highly appreciated the efforts of Tehreek-i-Sawtul Awliya, stating that while the organisation is dedicated to promoting moral and religious values among the youth, it is equally committed to serving society through meaningful humanitarian initiatives. They described such medical camps as a great relief for people living in far-flung areas who often struggle to access basic healthcare facilities.

Residents termed the camp a unique and much-needed initiative, saying that hundreds of patients received comprehensive medical care under one roof along with free medicines. They also welcomed the free eye screening services provided by Kashmir Eye Clinic, describing the camp as an exemplary model of community service and public welfare.

The organisers reiterated their commitment to continuing such humanitarian initiatives across Jammu and Kashmir, particularly in rural and remote regions, to ensure that quality healthcare reaches every section of society.
