JAMMU, Jul 1: Dr Varinder Sharma, Co-convener, J&K BJP Health Cell, has strongly criticised the National Conference government over its outsourcing of nearly 25,000 government posts, terming it a “gross betrayal” of the aspirations of the youth of Jammu and Kashmir. Dr Sharma said that while thousands of young people across the Union Territory are burning the midnight oil preparing for JKSSB and JKPSC examinations, the government has quietly handed over a massive chunk of public sector posts to private outsourcing agencies. “This is nothing short of a backdoor appointment scheme, designed to accommodate favoured individuals and their relatives, bypassing merit-based recruitment altogether,” he alleged.
Dr Sharma questioned the complete lack of transparency surrounding the process. “How were outsourcing agencies empanelled? What criteria were followed? Who recruited the candidates placed against these posts? If the government has nothing to hide, it should had published complete lists of appointees, along with their names and regions,” he said. He further alleged that even in regular selection lists, transparency remains conspicuously absent, with only roll numbers being published instead of full details. “A close analysis of recent selection lists of Medical Officers reveals a clear regional favouritism, which is wholly unacceptable in a Union Territory that must treat all its regions equally,” Dr Sharma added.
Recalling that government degree colleges are functioning on a contractual teaching system for years, Dr Sharma said the outsourcing of posts across nearly every department has now become the latest casualty of the government’s flawed recruitment policy. “Crores of rupees of public money are being placed at the disposal of private contracting agencies with no explanation whatsoever. The intentions of this government are dubious, and its conduct amounts to betrayal of J&K’s youth,” he said.
Dr Sharma demanded that the government immediately clarify its recruitment policy and categorically state whether outsourcing is to become the norm for providing employment to the youth. He called for the immediate termination of all such outsourced posts, and demanded that regular, transparent recruitment through the JKSSB and JKPSC be restored without further delay.
