JAMMU, Aug 7: In a proud moment for the promotion of the Dogri language and its rich cultural heritage, two new Dogri devotional songs have been recorded in Mumbai, bringing together some of India’s most celebrated musical personalities.
The lyrics of both devotional songs have been penned by eminent Dogri poet and writer Yog Rahi. One bhajan, dedicated to Lord Shiva, has been rendered by renowned playback singer Anuradha Paudwal, while the second, devoted to Goddess Durga, has been sung by celebrated Bhajan exponent and Padma Shri awardee Anup Jalota.
The music for both compositions has been composed by noted music director Brij Mohan, with assistance from Vivek Mohan, while the musical arrangements have been crafted by Sumit Guha.
Speaking about the project, Brij Mohan expressed gratitude to both legendary singers for their wholehearted support and exceptional performances, saying their contributions have made the recordings truly memorable.
Highlighting his long association with the artists, he recalled that Anup Jalota had earlier recorded two devotional songs under his music direction. He also noted that in 2001, Anuradha Paudwal recorded two devotional songs dedicated to Baba Kaliveer Ji, along with an aarti, all composed by him.
Brij Mohan expressed confidence that the soulful lyrics of Yog Rahi, coupled with the melodious voices of Anuradha Paudwal and Anup Jalota and the rich musical compositions, will deeply resonate with Dogri-speaking audiences. He said the project would not only enrich the repertoire of Dogri devotional music but also contribute significantly to the preservation and promotion of the region’s linguistic and cultural heritage.
