JAMMU, Aug 19: Dogra Brahman Pratinidhi Sabha, Channi Himmat, on Wednesday continued its green-cover plantation drive across different sectors of Channi Himmat with the aim of promoting environmental conservation and improving the local ecosystem. The plantation programme was inaugurated by Dr Vijay Sharma in the presence of Phool Krishna Shastri, Janak Raj Shastri and Sunil Sharma, Head of Channi Himmat Brahman Sabha.
The plantation drive was organised during the holy month of Shravan in the presence of religious scholars. Sunil Sharma, National Coordinator of Akhil Bhartiya Dharam Prachar Sewa Samiti and President of Brahmin Sabha, Channi Himmat, said the Sabha has been conducting plantation drives in the area for the past three years to improve air quality, strengthen the environment and create a greener surroundings for future generations.
He said the campaign focuses on planting trees having both environmental and medicinal significance. Plants with Ayurvedic value have also been selected so that the initiative contributes to public health besides enhancing green cover. Sharma appealed to residents of Channi Himmat to actively participate in the campaign and help make every sector greener. He said extensive plantation activities would be undertaken across all sectors in the coming days.
Sharma further informed that last year the Sabha planted a large number of trees in Sector 4, Sector 3, Bhalla Enclave and along the pond. He said the trees planted during the previous campaign are growing well and contributing to the area’s green cover.
Bhagwat Katha narrator Phool Krishna Shastri appreciated Sunil Sharma for undertaking several initiatives aimed at promoting Sanatan Dharma and maintaining a clean, healthy and protected environment. He said the plantation campaign would provide long-term benefits to future generations.
Kuldeep Krishna Sharma said the Sabha would continue undertaking social service initiatives in the future, with its mission centred on service to society, the nation, humanity and God.
Yashpal Sharma, Pradeep Sharma, Ritu Sharma, Anil Magotra, Phool Krishna Ji Maharaj, C.P. Sharma, poetess Girija Sharma, Vijay Sharma, Gopal Sharma, Arjun Kumar, Rajesh Kumar, Swatantra Bakshi, Dharmendra Pandey, Dr Amit Sharma, Dileep Kumar, Bhuvaneshwari Sharma, Ayushman Sharma, Neeru Sharma, Pran Nath Kaul, Inder Sharma, Chaman Lal Sharma, Gokul Khajuria, Ashok Khajuria, Ashok Dubey and several other prominent persons were present. Kuldeep Dubey, Yash Paul Khajuria, Vinod Sharma, Rajinder Mehta, Manmohan Narad, Rohit Shastri and others also participated in the programme.
