DODA, Oct 23: The District Doda Pencak Silat Association is set to organise the District Doda Pencak Silat Championship 2026 on November 3 and 4 at the Indoor Hall, Doda, providing a platform for young martial arts enthusiasts to showcase their skills and talent.
The championship will be organised by the Pencak Silat Association of Jammu and Kashmir under the aegis of the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council (JKSC), with the objective of promoting the traditional martial art and encouraging greater youth participation in sports.
Pencak Silat is a traditional martial art that combines physical fitness, self-defence techniques, discipline and mental strength. The championship is expected to encourage young athletes to develop confidence, sportsmanship and competitive skills while pursuing their sporting ambitions.
The event will also provide an opportunity to identify promising players from District Doda who may represent the district in future competitions at higher levels. Such initiatives play an important role in strengthening the local sports ecosystem and creating opportunities for aspiring athletes.
The District Doda Pencak Silat Association has appealed to players, coaches, sports enthusiasts and the general public to extend their cooperation and support to ensure the successful conduct of the championship.
The association also expressed gratitude to the Pencak Silat Association of Jammu and Kashmir and the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council for their continued support in promoting sports and nurturing young talent across the region.
The two-day championship is expected to contribute towards popularising Pencak Silat in Doda and motivating more youngsters to participate in organised sporting activities.
