JAMMU, Aug 6: Mission Statehood President Sunil Dimple on Thursday led a protest rally at Janipur High Court Chowk, reiterating his demand for the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood and raising objections over the abrogation of Article 370.
Addressing the gathering, Dimple warned that he would give a Jammu and Kashmir-wide bandh call if the demand for restoration of statehood was not addressed. He urged all political parties and public organisations to unite on a common platform to press for the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood.
Dimple claimed that people across Jammu and Kashmir, along with various political parties, had observed August 5 as a “Black Day” and thanked those who participated in the protests. He said the movement had brought together people from different sections of society in support of statehood.
Alleging that the Union Government had not made a firm commitment regarding the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood, Dimple also criticised BJP legislators, accusing them of remaining silent on the issue. He further opposed demands for separate Jammu and Kashmir states, asserting that the region should remain united.
During his address, Dimple also spoke in favour of the unification of Ladakh, Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), Gilgit and Baltistan with Jammu and Kashmir, describing them as integral parts of India.
Among those present at the protest were Vikas, Mohinder Kumar, Lichi, Tarsem Lal, Ashok Sharma, Deepak, Dalep Kumar, Kala Singh, Surinder Kumar, Baba Kumar and other Mission Statehood workers.
