Dimple opposes Amphalla–Janipur flyover, seeks ring road and metro connectivity

JAMMU, Sep 15: Former Minister and former MP Choudhary Lal Singh today extended support to Sunil Dimple, President, Mission Statehood, who is leading a protest against the proposed construction of flyovers affecting traders, shopkeepers and residents of Amphalla, New Plot, Janipur, Roopnagar, Bantalab, Bakshi Nagar, Nai Basti and adjoining areas.

During his Jammu visit, Choudhary Lal Singh met Sunil Dimple and representatives of traders, shopkeepers and residents opposing the ongoing flyover-related projects. Lal Singh assured the protesters of the Congress party’s support and said he would stand shoulder to shoulder with them in their efforts to safeguard their businesses, houses and livelihoods from the impact of the projects.

Sunil Dimple alleged that the proposed flyover projects could lead to the displacement of a large number of traders and residents. He challenged BJP MPs and MLAs, including Jugal Kishore Sharma, Sat Sharma, Sham Lal Sharma, Yudhvir Sethi and Arvind Gupta, to demonstrate their commitment to resolving Jammu’s traffic problems through comprehensive planning.

Dimple demanded construction of a circular ring road from Amphalla Manda to Janipur High Court, Lakad Mandi, Roopnagar and Bantalab up to Akhnoor, along with the introduction of a Metro train service from Amphalla Manda to Akhnoor. He said such infrastructure would provide a long-term solution to traffic congestion without causing widespread disruption to local businesses and residential areas.

“Not even an inch of land will be given up by the shopkeepers,” Dimple said, reiterating his opposition to the proposed flyover projects. He maintained that priority should instead be given to developing a ring road and starting metro connectivity between Amphalla Manda, Janipur, Roopnagar, Bantalab and Akhnoor.

Several leaders and supporters, including Sachin Soni, Anmol Anand, Anil Sharma, Vijay Sharma, Kuldeep Kumar, Yash Sharma, Sweety Kour and Subash Sharma, among others, were present on the occasion.
