JAMMU, Aug 1: Mission Statehood Jammu and Kashmir President Sunil Dimple on Friday led a protest rally in Jammu against Pakistan, condemning the recent killing of two labourers in Kashmir and the martyrdom of a police head constable in Anantnag. Protesters also raised slogans against Pakistan and burned effigies of Pakistan, its Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir during the demonstration held on the Janipur High Court Road.
Addressing the gathering, Dimple expressed grief over the deaths of the two labourers from Chhattisgarh and Police Head Constable Hamid Qureshi, alleging that the recent attacks were aimed at disturbing peace and normalcy in the Kashmir Valley. He termed the incidents a serious security lapse and called for stronger measures to prevent such attacks in the future.
“The targeted killings of innocent labourers and a police constable within a span of three days are an attempt to disrupt communal harmony and brotherhood in Jammu and Kashmir. The people of the Union Territory stand united with the families of the martyrs and innocent victims,” Dimple said.
He alleged that such incidents were intended to create divisions between communities and regions and urged the government to ensure the safety of civilians, migrant workers and security personnel.
Referring to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Gilgit-Baltistan, Dimple claimed that innocent civilians were being killed in the region and reiterated his demand for their “liberation” from Pakistan. He extended support to organisations and people in PoK and Gilgit-Baltistan whom he said were seeking freedom from Pakistani control and wished to join India.
“The Government of India should take decisive steps against terrorism. Terror infrastructure across the border must be dismantled completely, and those responsible for sponsoring terrorism should be brought to justice,” he said.
Dimple also alleged that terrorist infrastructure and sleeper cells continue to pose a threat in Jammu and Kashmir and stressed the need for intensified counter-terror operations.
Among those who participated in the protest were Nitin Saini, Rupesh Bhat, Satpal, Sachin Soi, Arjun Anand, Anmol, Ashok Sharma, Sanjiet Singh, Bunty Dogra and several other Mission Statehood activists.
