JAMMU, May 12: Mission Statehood President Sunil Dimple on Monday staged a protest at Rehari Chungi along with parents and students against the cancellation of the NEET examination conducted on May 3, 2026. The protesters expressed concern over the future of lakhs of students and also raised the issue of rising unemployment in Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing the gathering, Sunil Dimple alleged that the National Testing Agency (NTA) and the Union Government failed to ensure transparency and security in the conduct of the NEET examination. He questioned why proper measures were not taken earlier to prevent alleged paper leaks and irregularities.
Dimple stated that nearly 50 lakh students across the country had worked hard for the examination and are now facing stress, uncertainty and frustration due to the cancellation issue. He alleged that repeated controversies surrounding competitive examinations are badly affecting the careers and future of the youth.
He further claimed that similar delays and uncertainties have also been witnessed in various recruitment and civil services examinations, including UPSC-related processes, causing students to wait for long periods.
Raising the issue of unemployment in Jammu and Kashmir, Dimple alleged that several recruitment processes have remained pending for years. He said that recruitment examinations for posts such as Police Sub-Inspectors and Naib Tehsildars have not progressed despite forms having been filled earlier, resulting in growing frustration among educated unemployed youth.
He criticized recruitment agencies including JKSSB and PSC, alleging delays in the recruitment process and demanding immediate filling of vacant posts. He warned that if the recruitment process for Police Sub-Inspectors and Naib Tehsildars is not started soon, a larger agitation would be launched.
Dimple also appealed to the Chief Minister to address the issues of various categories of employees and workers, including seasonal teachers, vocational trainers, cluster resource coordinators, SPOs, Rehbar-e-Khel, Rehbar-e-Taleem teachers, daily wagers, paramedical staff, Anganwadi workers and several other groups demanding regularization and enhancement of salaries.
He further alleged that the existing governance system in Jammu and Kashmir has failed to address public concerns effectively.
Among others present during the protest were Narinder Chowdhery, Baba Gupta, Roky Kapoor, Happy Kumar, Suny, Sanjeev and Ashok Sharma along with several students, parents and supporters.
