JAMMU, Jul 12: Mission Statehood President Sunil Dimple has appealed to all political parties, trade bodies, social organisations and civil society groups to participate in the proposed Jantar Mantar protest in New Delhi on July 20, demanding the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood.
In a press statement, Dimple said the Mission Statehood working committee has passed a resolution to join the protest and that he would leave for a four-day visit to Delhi to highlight before Members of Parliament and people across the country the situation in Jammu and Kashmir following its reorganisation into a Union Territory.
He appreciated the participation of people from Jammu in the recent rallies organised by the National Conference in Jammu and Srinagar in support of statehood.
Dimple appealed to the Congress, PDP, BJP, Apni Party, People’s Conference, chambers of commerce, bar associations, transporters, traders, students and various social and religious organisations from both Jammu and Kashmir to unite for what he termed the common cause of restoring statehood.
Claiming that Mission Statehood had launched its campaign on August 5, 2019, he said the organisation had also approached the Supreme Court on the issue and would continue supporting all-party efforts for the restoration of statehood.
Dimple criticised the BJP, alleging that it had delayed the restoration of statehood despite assurances, and urged all sections of society to participate in the July 20 demonstration at Jantar Mantar.
