Devraj Sharma welcomes Amit Shah’s zero-tolerance border security drive

JAMMU, Jun 1: Senior BJP leader and Advocate Devraj Sharma has strongly welcomed Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s directive ordering a strict “zero-tolerance” crackdown on all unauthorized structures located within 15 kilometers of India’s international borders. Describing the move as a landmark step towards strengthening national security, Sharma said the decision reflects the Central Government’s unwavering commitment to protecting the nation’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

In a statement issued here, Sharma said the Home Minister’s directive is aimed at effectively countering cross-border infiltration, illegal migration, drug trafficking, arms smuggling and other anti-national activities that pose a serious threat to the country’s security. He observed that unauthorized settlements and structures in sensitive border areas have often been exploited by anti-national elements and criminal networks for unlawful activities, making strict action both necessary and timely.

Sharma emphasized that the decision is expected to have a far-reaching impact on the security architecture of border regions, particularly in Jammu and Kashmir and other frontier states. By removing illegal structures and enhancing surveillance in vulnerable areas, security agencies will be better positioned to monitor suspicious movements and prevent attempts to infiltrate across the border.

He further stated that the crackdown would significantly weaken the infrastructure used by smuggling syndicates involved in the illegal trade of narcotics, weapons and other contraband. Such activities, he noted, not only undermine law and order but also endanger the future of the country’s youth by fueling drug abuse and organized crime.

The BJP leader also highlighted the importance of preserving the demographic and cultural character of border regions. He said deliberate attempts by anti-national forces to alter the demographic profile of strategically sensitive areas could have long-term implications for national security and social stability. The government’s firm action, he added, demonstrates its resolve to prevent any such designs from succeeding.

Sharma lauded the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for adopting a proactive and uncompromising approach towards border management and internal security. He said the decision would instill greater confidence among residents living in border areas, who have long demanded stronger measures to curb infiltration and illegal activities.

Calling upon citizens to cooperate with the administration and security agencies, Sharma said collective vigilance and public participation are essential for ensuring the success of the initiative. He expressed confidence that the zero-tolerance policy would contribute significantly to securing India’s borders, strengthening internal security and creating a safer environment for future generations.
