JAMMU, Aug 10: The All Daily Wagers Jammu & Kashmir Sangarsh Samiti has reiterated its demand for the immediate implementation of the Minimum Wages Act and regularisation of all eligible daily wage workers across Jammu and Kashmir.

In a statement issued here, Sunny Kant Chib, JKUT President, All Daily Wagers Jammu & Kashmir Sangarsh Samiti, said thousands of workers and their families continue to face financial difficulties due to low wages, lack of job security and prolonged uncertainty over their employment status.

The Samiti represents various categories of workers, including ASHA workers, Mid-Day Meal cooks, land donors, CPW workers, Mali-cum-Chowkidars, Anganwadi workers, VDG workers, SBM workers, Safai Karamcharis, PHE ITI workers, without-pay workers and online workers, among others.

The organisation demanded immediate implementation of minimum wages for all daily wage workers, regularisation of eligible employees, and provision of fair wages, dignity and social security benefits.

The Samiti said successive assurances have been given to daily wage workers, but many of their long-pending demands remain unresolved. It urged the Government to take concrete measures to address the concerns of workers and provide them with financial and employment security.

Chib warned that if the demands were not addressed at the earliest, the Samiti would intensify its democratic and peaceful movement across Jammu and Kashmir. He said workers, along with their families, would continue to hold protests until their legitimate demands were resolved.

The Samiti appealed to the Government to initiate meaningful dialogue with representatives of daily wage workers and take immediate steps in the interest of thousands of affected employees and their families.
