JAMMU, Sep 3: Cluster University of Jammu (CLUJ) convened its 6th Finance Committee Meeting and 5th University Syndicate Meeting on September 02, 2026 at the Conference Hall of the Vice-Chancellor Secretariat, with Prof. K. S. Chandrasekar, Vice-Chancellor, Cluster University of Jammu, chairing both meetings.
The 6th Finance Committee Meeting, held at 12:00 noon, deliberated upon various important financial and administrative matters concerning the University.
Nagesh Jamwal, FA/CAO, presented the agenda before the Committee. The major matters included consideration of the Revised Budget Estimates for 2024-25 and 2025-26 and Proposed Budget Estimates for 2026-27, upgradation of pay scales of Laboratory Assistants, amendments relating to the General Provident Fund and approval of the Annual Accounts of the University. The proposed capital budget also included several developmental works and infrastructure projects.
The Finance Committee also considered the proposed Rs. 65.49 crore capital budget for 2026-27, including new works such as the preparation of a Master Plan for campus development, construction of a prefabricated block, campus administrative block, sewerage/drainage system, upgradation of the Language Lab and Research Innovation Resource Centre, besides ongoing projects including the Controller of Examinations Building, boundary wall and Vice-Chancellor’s Lodge.
The 5th University Syndicate Meeting, held at 01:00 PM was also chaired by the Vice-Chancellor. Ankur Mahajan, Registrar, Cluster University of Jammu presented the agenda before the Syndicate. The meeting considered a comprehensive agenda covering Academic, Research, Examination, Administrative and Statutory Matters.
Among the significant academic matters placed before the Syndicate were the implementation of provisions relating to FYUGP, Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP), new and revised postgraduate programmes, recognition of Ph.D. Research Supervisors, research dissertation guidelines and introduction of new academic subjects and programmes. The agenda also included the re-introduction of integrated M.Sc. programmes in Botany, Zoology, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and the introduction of Integrated Postgraduate Programme in Geography.
The Syndicate further considered proposals for the creation of a Department of Vedic Studies and introduction of a Postgraduate Diploma in Sanatana Dharma and Indian Knowledge Systems, as well as adoption of UGC Guidelines for engagement of Professors of Practice.
Other important matters included amendments to the University Statutes, introduction of Information Technology as a Minor Subject, recruitment-related matters concerning teaching and non-teaching posts, provisions for counting past service of Assistant Professors under Career Advancement Scheme (CAS) and advertisement of the posts of Controller of Examinations and Assistant Librarian.
Prof. K. S. Chandrasekar, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor emphasized the importance of Financial Management, Academic Excellence and expansion of Innovative Programmes and strengthening of research and infrastructure facilities for the sustained growth of the University. The meetings were attended by the respective members of the University Syndicate and Finance Committee, as per the approved nominations.
The meeting was concluded with the consideration of the agenda items and directions for further necessary action in accordance with the decisions of the competent authorities.
