UDHAMPUR, Oct 22: District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Udhampur, under the guidance of Kalpana Revo, Chairman District Legal Services Authority (Principal District and Sessions Judge) Udhampur, and under the supervision of Sumati Sharma, Sub Judge/Secretary DLSA Udhampur, ON Thursday conducted a meeting regarding 4th Under Trial Review Committee, 2026.
The meeting was held in the Conference Hall, District Court Complex Udhampur. The aim of the meeting was convened to evaluate cases of under-trial prisoners and to ensure compliance with legal safeguards and timely justice.
The meeting was chaired by Kalpana Revo, Chairman District Legal Services Authority (Pr. District and Sessions Judge) Udhampur and was attended by Sumati Sharma, Sub-Judge/Secretary DLSA Udhampur, Prem Singh Chib, Additional District Magistrate, Udhampur, Shivender Singh Jamwal, Additional Superintendent of Police, Udhampur and Mohd. Irfan Khan, Superintendent of District Jail Udhampur.
During the meeting, the committee reviewed cases based on guidelines from the Supreme Court and NALSA SOPs, focusing on prisoners with no proper representation or those who have spent substantial time behind bars.
The committee recommended the release of eligible prisoners, by filling bail applications before appropriate Courts and ensuring that the benefits of legal provisions reach to the intended beneficiaries especially prisoners.
The meeting also discussed action taken, such as conducting regular meetings to track progress, maintaining a consolidated data sheet to monitor prisoner cases, and preparing quarterly reports.
The meeting concluded with appreciation expressed by Chairman District Legal Services Authority (Pr. Distt. & Sessions Judge) Udhampur to all the stakeholders for their proactive participation in addressing.
