JAMMU, Sep 14The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Crime Branch (CB) Jammu has filed a charge-sheet against two accused persons in a case involving an alleged fraudulent land transaction of Rs 16.50 lakh.
The charge-sheet has been presented before the Court of Special Municipal Mobile Magistrate, Jammu, in FIR No. 21/2025, registered under Sections 420 and 120-B IPC at Police Station Crime Branch EOW Jammu. The accused have been identified as Rahul Dasgotra and Sneha Verma.
According to the Crime Branch, the case was registered on the basis of a written complaint lodged by Dr. Anjan Bhola. The complainant alleged that Rahul Dasgotra represented himself as the owner of land at Village Patyari (Bhatyari), Bishnah, and induced him to enter into an agreement for purchase of one kanal of land for Rs 16.50 lakh.
During the investigation, the EOW seized and examined the notarised Agreement to Sell dated June 20, 2023, along with relevant bank and revenue records.
The investigation revealed that the complainant had transferred Rs 10 lakh and Rs 6.50 lakh in two instalments into a Canara Bank account maintained in the name of Om Sai Construction, owned by Sneha Verma, wife of Rahul Dasgotra.
Verification of revenue records obtained from the Tehsildar, Bishnah, further revealed that Khasra No. 1152 min, on the basis of which the land transaction had allegedly been represented, did not exist in Village Patyari (Bhatyari), Bishnah.
The investigation was conducted under the supervision of DySP Goldy Sharma, and the Crime Branch said sufficient evidence was found against both accused persons. The chargesheet has accordingly been filed before the competent court for judicial determination.
SSP Crime Branch EOW Jammu Faisal Qureshi advised members of the public to remain vigilant while entering into property and other financial transactions.
“People should thoroughly verify ownership and revenue records before making payments in land deals. Any suspicious or fraudulent economic transaction should be reported promptly to the Crime Branch,” the SSP said.
He further urged victims of economic fraud to approach the Crime Branch EOW Jammu. Complaints can also be submitted through email at sspcrimejmu@jkpolice.gov.in or by contacting 0191-2578901.
