DOORU, May 12: In a significant step towards creating awareness against the growing menace of drug abuse, the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages organized a grand awareness programme under the banner of the “Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan” at the auditorium hall of Government Model Higher Secondary School Dooru on Tuesday.
The programme was conducted in collaboration with Raja Art and Cultural Foundation Dooru and Government Model Higher Secondary School Dooru.
The event witnessed overwhelming participation from students, teachers, civil society members, and representatives from Government Degree College Dooru. A large gathering of students actively participated in various awareness activities organized during the programme, reflecting the growing concern and commitment of the youth towards building a drug-free society.
The programme featured several cultural and awareness-based performances aimed at educating the public about the harmful effects of narcotics and substance abuse.
Raja Art and Cultural Foundation presented a powerful solo performance carrying a strong anti-drug message, which deeply moved the audience. In addition, thematic dramas and awareness songs highlighting the devastating impact of drug addiction on individuals, families, and society were also staged and received huge appreciation from the participants.
Speakers on the occasion stressed the urgent need for collective responsibility and community participation in eradicating drug abuse from society. They emphasized that the youth are the backbone of the nation and must stay away from narcotics and other harmful substances. The speakers also called upon parents, teachers, religious scholars, and social organizations to play an active role in guiding the younger generation towards a healthy and positive lifestyle.
The programme echoed the larger mission of the Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan, launched to spread awareness and strengthen efforts against drug addiction across the Union Territory. Participants described the event as informative, inspiring, and highly impactful.
The event concluded with a strong pledge and message of awareness, responsibility, and unity in the collective fight against drug addiction, with participants reaffirming their commitment to work towards a healthier and drug-free Jammu and Kashmir.
