NOWSHERA, Oct 12: The Indian Army organised a girl child empowerment programme titled “Beti Ki Udaan, Desh Ki Pehchaan” at Government High School, Gagrote on 10 October 2026 under the theme “Equal Opportunity, Equal Future.”
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from 50 girl students in an essay competition on gender equality, with the top three performers receiving prizes and certificates. An inspirational lecture by Army officers highlighted career opportunities across diverse fields, including education, sports, science and the Defence Forces.
A self-defence demonstration and awareness session were also conducted to familiarise the students with basic personal safety techniques and enhance their confidence, awareness and preparedness. The initiative aimed to promote gender equality, encourage young girls to pursue their aspirations with confidence and inspire them to explore opportunities across diverse fields.
The programme reaffirmed the Indian Army’s continued commitment towards women empowerment, youth development and meaningful community outreach, particularly in border areas, while encouraging young girls to dream big, build confidence and contribute positively towards society and nation-building.
