Army organises photography cadre at Banihal

RAMBAN, Jul 18: In a continued effort to promote youth empowerment, skill development and constructive engagement, the Indian Army organised a Photography Cadre at Banihal in Ramban district. The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from local youth eager to enhance their photography skills and explore creative career opportunities.

The programme began with an inaugural address by Indian Army officials, who welcomed the participants and highlighted photography as a powerful medium for storytelling, creativity, communication and preserving the region’s rich cultural heritage. They encouraged the youth to make the best use of the training to develop their talents and contribute positively to society.

“The Indian Army remains committed to empowering the youth through skill-based initiatives that inspire creativity, build confidence and open new avenues for personal and professional growth. Photography is not just an art but a valuable skill with immense career potential,” an Army official said.

The training is being conducted by experienced photography instructor Arif Muzaffar, who will provide participants with both theoretical knowledge and practical exposure. The curriculum covers the basics of camera operations, the exposure triangle (aperture, shutter speed and ISO), camera modes, metering, focusing, depth of field, white balance, colour management, lenses and focal lengths, lighting techniques, file formats, workflow management, and practical photography assignments.

Through interactive sessions, demonstrations and hands-on exercises, participants will gain practical experience in camera handling, understanding lighting conditions, composing creative photographs and applying professional photography techniques in real-life situations.

The participants expressed gratitude to the Indian Army for organising the initiative, saying the programme offered them an excellent opportunity to learn from experienced professionals and acquire valuable skills that could help them pursue photography both as a passion and a career.

The initiative reflects the Indian Army’s continued commitment to engaging with local youth through constructive programmes aimed at fostering talent, enhancing employability and strengthening community relations.
