POONCH, May 14: The Indian Army organised a lecture on the “Role of Women in Society” at Bafliaz, Poonch, as part of its continued efforts to maintain cordial relations with the local population under the spirit of Jawan and Awam.
The lecture highlighted the diverse and vital role played by women in society, including their contribution as mothers, teachers, leaders and professionals in various fields. The gathering was also sensitised on the importance of girls’ education, with emphasis on the fact that education is the key to women’s empowerment and social progress. It was further highlighted that women constitute nearly 48 percent of India’s population and continue to make significant contributions across all sectors.
A total of 101 locals, including 23 women, 19 men and 59 children, attended the event. The initiative was highly appreciated by the local populace. Such outreach efforts by the Indian Army in remote areas, where access to civil administration remains limited, play an important role in strengthening trust, goodwill and cooperation between the Army and the people. The event reaffirmed the Indian Army’s commitment towards community engagement, social awareness and service to the nation.
