Army engaged youth in anti-drug initiatives under Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan at Danna & Khanetar

POONCH, May 17: In a concerted effort to promote a drug-free and healthy lifestyle, the Indian Army organised two impactful events under the Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan in District Poonch.

At Danna, Loran, students actively participated in a “Run by Students” programme aimed at educating young minds and the wider community about the harmful effects of substance abuse. The event emphasised the importance of sports in building character, teamwork, self-confidence and a disciplined lifestyle. Army personnel and teachers guided participants on the dangers of drugs while encouraging engagement in education, sports and nation-building activities. The programme concluded with a collective pledge by students to remain drug-free and serve as ambassadors of the campaign.

Simultaneously, an awareness lecture at Khanetar brought together local residents and youth to discuss the physical, mental and social consequences of addiction. The interactive session highlighted stress management, peer pressure and the importance of adopting positive habits, including regular exercise, nutritious food and constructive engagement in social and educational activities. Participants concluded the lecture by taking a pledge to support a drug-free society and contribute to the success of Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan.

Both initiatives were widely appreciated by the local community for their meaningful engagement and emphasis on youth empowerment, health and responsible citizenship.
