Ancient Vedic path alone leads to true worship of God, says Swami Ram Swarup

JAMMU / YOL, Jun 6: On the 56th day of the ongoing 78-day Yajna Anushthan based on all four Vedas at Ved Mandir, Yol, renowned Vedic scholar and Yoga Acharya Swami Ram Swarup Ji addressed devotees and seekers, emphasizing that humanity has, in the present age, adopted numerous paths of worship that are contrary to the teachings of the Vedas.

While delivering his discourse, Swami Ji stated that this fact has also been clearly mentioned in the Uttarkand of Goswami Tulsidas Ji’s Ramcharitmanas (Doha 100-B), wherein it is said that people have abandoned the Vedic path of devotion, which was founded upon true knowledge and renunciation, and have instead, under the influence of illusion, invented countless new sects and methods of worship.

Swami Ji explained that the eternal Vedas, which emanate directly from God, prescribe the worship of only one formless, omnipresent, and omniscient Creator through the performance of Yajna. Referring further to Tulsidas Ji’s writings, he noted that those who criticize or reject the authority of the Vedas ultimately tread a path that leads to suffering. He expressed concern that although people listen to such teachings and verses, many fail to follow them in practice.

Quoting Maharishi Vyas from the Mahabharata, Swami Ji cited the statement, “Nastiko Veda Nindakaha,” meaning that one who condemns the Vedas is considered an atheist. He further referred to Atharvaveda Mantra 7/5/1, which states that learned scholars worship God through the performance of Yajna. According to Swami Ji, an in-depth study of all four Vedas, especially the Samaveda, clearly reveals that enlightened souls worship the Supreme Creator through Yajna and ultimately attain liberation (Moksha).

Swami Ram Swarup Ji also highlighted the significance of the ancient Guru-Shishya (teacher-disciple) tradition established by God through the first four Rishis and later carried forward by Brahma. He observed that modern society has largely abandoned this timeless Vedic tradition and embraced practices contrary to Vedic teachings, resulting in the rise of diseases, unrest, violence, and countless forms of suffering.

Urging the gathering to reflect deeply, Swami Ji asked seekers to compare the divine path of devotion prescribed by God in the Vedas with the various human-made paths that have emerged over time. He emphasized that lasting peace, spiritual upliftment, and liberation can only be achieved by returning to the eternal wisdom and disciplines enshrined in the Vedas.
