Amrit Bali voices concern over mounting public issues in J&K, calls for responsive governance

JAMMU, June 25: Senior Congress leader and In-charge R.S. Pura–Jammu South Constituency, Amrit Bali, today expressed serious concern over the growing public hardships across Jammu and Kashmir, stating that a large section of the population is grappling with multiple challenges that require immediate attention from the administration.

In a statement issued here, Bali said that during his continuous interactions with people from urban as well as rural areas, concerns relating to unemployment, rising prices of essential commodities, erratic power supply, inadequate drinking water facilities, poor road conditions and deficiencies in healthcare services have emerged as the most pressing issues affecting everyday life.

He observed that despite repeated assurances, many developmental works remain incomplete while basic civic amenities continue to elude several localities. The Congress leader said that common citizens, particularly youth, farmers, labourers, small traders and economically weaker sections, are facing increasing difficulties due to the rising cost of living and limited employment opportunities.

Bali expressed concern over the growing frustration among educated unemployed youth and stressed the need for transparent, merit-based and time-bound recruitment processes. He said employment generation must be treated as a priority sector to prevent alienation and restore confidence among the younger generation.

Highlighting the problems faced by farmers, especially in border and rural areas, he called for strengthening irrigation infrastructure, ensuring uninterrupted power supply for agricultural activities and providing timely support to the farming community. He also emphasized the need for effective measures to address water scarcity and improve maintenance of canals and irrigation channels.

The Congress leader further pointed to frequent complaints regarding healthcare facilities, shortage of medical staff in peripheral areas and inadequate infrastructure in several government institutions. He urged the administration to adopt a people-centric approach and ensure that public grievances are addressed promptly and effectively.

Bali said that development should not be confined to announcements alone but must translate into tangible improvements in the lives of ordinary citizens. He stressed that governance should be measured by the quality of services delivered to the people and not merely by official claims.

Reaffirming the Congress party’s commitment to public welfare, Bali said he would continue to raise people’s issues at every available platform and serve as a strong voice for the concerns and aspirations of residents of R.S. Pura, Jammu South and the wider Jammu region.

“The people of Jammu and Kashmir deserve accountable governance, quality public services, employment opportunities for youth and a better standard of living. It is the responsibility of those in power to address these concerns with urgency and sincerity,” Bali said.

He appealed to the administration to engage more closely with the public, identify ground-level problems and take concrete corrective measures to ensure inclusive development and equitable growth across all regions of the Union Territory.
