JAMMU, Sep 18: The All Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Conference (AJKPC), a registered organisation working for panchayats and local bodies in Jammu and Kashmir, will launch an MLA Reach-Out Programme during the upcoming session of the J&K Legislative Assembly to seek support for holding panchayat elections in the Union Territory at the earliest.
The announcement was made by AJKPC President Anil Sharma after a meeting with Jammu-based office-bearers of the organisation. The J&K Legislative Assembly’s sixth session is scheduled to be held from September 21 to September 30, 2026.
During the Assembly session, different delegations of AJKPC will meet MLAs from various political parties and discuss the issue of pending panchayat elections. The organisation plans to seek support from legislators for initiating the election process and restoring elected representation at the grassroots level.
