Ajeet Bhagat urges Sakina Itoo to launch mega teacher recruitment drive in J&K

KISHTWAR, Oct 10: Senior Jammu and Kashmir National Conference leader and Chenab Valley Regional Spokesperson Ajeet Bhagat has appealed to Education Minister Sakina Itoo to launch a mega recruitment drive for teachers across Jammu and Kashmir to address the shortage of teaching staff in government schools and provide employment opportunities to educated unemployed youth.

Bhagat said that thousands of educated young people in Jammu and Kashmir have been waiting for large-scale recruitment in the School Education Department for years. He expressed concern over the prolonged delay in filling vacant teaching positions, stating that the shortage of teachers was affecting the functioning of schools and the quality of education being imparted to students.

Urging the Education Minister to take immediate steps, Bhagat called for a comprehensive and transparent recruitment process to fill vacant posts across the Union Territory. He said that timely appointments were essential to ensure adequate teaching staff in schools, particularly in areas where students face difficulties due to a shortage of teachers.

The National Conference leader emphasised that a mega recruitment drive would serve a dual purpose by providing employment opportunities to deserving candidates and strengthening the education system. He said that filling vacant positions would help improve classroom teaching, ensure better academic support for students and enhance the overall functioning of government educational institutions.

Bhagat further stressed that the aspirations of educated unemployed youth must be addressed through concrete employment initiatives. He urged the government to prioritise recruitment in the School Education Department and ensure that eligible candidates receive fair opportunities through a merit-based and transparent selection process.

He maintained that strengthening the education sector required adequate staffing, timely recruitment and effective implementation of policies aimed at improving educational standards across Jammu and Kashmir.

Bhagat appealed to Education Minister Sakina Itoo to take up the matter on priority and initiate the proposed recruitment drive at the earliest, stating that such a step would benefit both aspiring teachers and students across the Union Territory.
