KISHTWAR, Aug 2: Senior Jammu and Kashmir National Conference leader and Chenab Valley spokesperson Ajeet Bhagat on Sunday criticised the BJP-led government, alleging that it has failed to fulfil key promises related to employment, inflation and public welfare.

Addressing media persons, Bhagat expressed concern over the rising prices of essential commodities and fuel, claiming that increasing costs have placed a heavy burden on common citizens. He alleged that the government’s economic policies have adversely affected households across the country.

Referring to the BJP’s 2014 election promises, Bhagat said the party had assured the creation of two crore jobs annually for unemployed youth. He alleged that instead of generating employment, privatization policies have contributed to a rise in unemployment across the country.

The National Conference leader also criticised the government over the condition of daily wage workers in Jammu and Kashmir. He claimed that while significant funds are being spent on the Prime Minister’s public rallies, more than 70,000 daily wage earners in the Union Territory continue to await regularisation of their services.

Bhagat further appealed to the people to remain vigilant and maintain communal harmony. He alleged that divisive politics should not distract the public from issues such as unemployment, inflation and economic development.

The BJP has previously defended its economic and employment policies, stating that it has undertaken measures to boost infrastructure, investment, welfare schemes and job creation. However, Bhagat maintained that the government must address the concerns of ordinary citizens and fulfil its commitments.

His remarks add to the ongoing political debate in Jammu and Kashmir over governance, economic challenges and employment, with opposition parties continuing to question the BJP government’s performance on these issues.
