Ajeet Bhagat alleges Centre failed to control inflation, unemployment

KISHTWAR, Jul 4: Senior Ajeet Bhagat on Friday criticised the BJP-led Central Government, alleging that it has failed to curb rising inflation and growing unemployment, resulting in severe hardships for the common people across the country.

In a statement, Bhagat said that despite repeated promises of economic growth and large-scale job creation, the ground reality remains disappointing. He alleged that the prices of essential commodities, including food items, cooking gas, edible oils, vegetables, medicines, electricity and other household necessities, have increased substantially over the years, putting immense financial pressure on ordinary families.

The National Conference leader claimed that persistent inflation has significantly reduced the purchasing power of the people, making it increasingly difficult for middle- and lower-income households to meet their daily expenses. He said that instead of providing relief, the government has failed to introduce effective measures to control the rising cost of living.

Expressing concern over unemployment, Bhagat said that millions of educated youth across the country continue to struggle in search of employment opportunities. He alleged that a large number of vacancies in government departments remain unfilled, while employment generation in the private sector has not kept pace with the growing workforce. According to him, the lack of adequate job opportunities has adversely affected the aspirations of young people.

Referring to Jammu and Kashmir, Bhagat said the situation is particularly worrying as unemployment among educated youth remains a major challenge. He alleged that inadequate industrial investment, slow recruitment in government departments, the Army, police and paramilitary forces, and shrinking economic opportunities have further aggravated the problem in the Union Territory.

Bhagat further alleged that instead of addressing inflation, unemployment and economic challenges, the BJP leadership has been diverting public attention towards issues that do not directly concern people’s day-to-day lives. He asserted that citizens are seeking answers on rising prices, declining purchasing power and employment generation.

Urging the Centre to take immediate corrective measures, Bhagat called for effective steps to control inflation, fill vacant government posts, create large-scale employment opportunities, strengthen agriculture, support small businesses and provide meaningful relief to the common people. He maintained that sustained economic progress is not possible unless unemployment and the rising cost of living are addressed on priority.
