Ajeet Bhagat alleges Centre failed on jobs, inflation and democratic institutions

KISHTWAR, Jul 16: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference senior leader and Chenab Valley spokesperson Ajeet Bhagat on Thursday launched a sharp attack on the BJP-led Central Government, alleging that it has failed to fulfil its promises on employment, economic growth and good governance during its 12 years in office.

Addressing the media, Bhagat claimed that despite repeated assurances of development and prosperity, the country has witnessed rising unemployment, soaring inflation and increasing economic inequality. He alleged that the gap between the government’s promises and its performance has continued to widen, leaving common citizens, farmers and small traders under financial stress.

“Prices have risen, jobs have been lost and democratic institutions have weakened due to the inefficiency of the Central Government over the past 12 years,” Bhagat alleged.

The National Conference leader further accused the Centre of undermining the autonomy of key constitutional and democratic institutions, claiming that their credibility and independence have been adversely affected by political interference. He alleged that such developments pose a serious challenge to the democratic framework of the country and weaken public confidence in institutional accountability.

Bhagat also expressed concern over recurring examination paper leaks and alleged irregularities in recruitment processes. He claimed that repeated administrative failures have put the future of lakhs of aspirants at risk and called for greater transparency and accountability in recruitment examinations.

The remarks were made as part of the National Conference’s criticism of the BJP-led Central Government’s governance and policy decisions. No immediate response from the BJP was available at the time of filing this report.
